The 2025 Mongolia Society Annual Meeting and Panels

The Mongolia Society’s 2025 Annual Meeting will be held October 3-4, 2025, in Washington, DC. Events include the annual meeting and academic panels, to be held at the Embassy of Mongolia to the United States, as well as an organized tour of the National Museum of Asian Art at the Smithsonian Institution. .

CALL FOR PAPERS

The Society is placing a call for papers for the academic panels. Within our general focus on Mongolian history, language and culture, we particularly invite papers on themes related to this year’s conference theme: “Mongolia in the World: Improving Understanding Through Interdisciplinary Perspectives.”

Abstracts from individuals and fully formed panels should be submitted to The Mongolia Society no later than June 15, 2025.

The abstract must contain the paper title, be no more than 300 words, and include contact information (email address and telephone number).

Presenters whose abstracts are accepted, will have 20 minutes to present their paper.

The meeting and conference will be fully hybrid, so we welcome both in-person and virtual participation

Paper Presenters: Please note that you must be a member* of The Mongolia Society in order to present a paper. To join the Society, you may pay online (via Paypal and Stripe) at the Society website or contact Susie Drost at monsoc@iu.edu.

*New Member Discount: The Society is offering a special discounted membership rate when new members join and pay the Annual Meeting Attendance Fee at the same time. It will cost only $100 for new U.S. members, $80 for new US student members, $110 for new foreign members and $90 for new foreign student members to both join the Society and attend the Annual Meeting and Panels, until September 1, 2025.  After September 1, 2025, it will cost $115 for new US members, $100 for new US student members, $125 for new foreign members and $110 for new foreign student members to both join the Society and attend the Annual Meetings and panels.

ATTENDANCE FEES

We ask those who attend or present at the 2025 Mongolia Society conference to pay an attendance fee to help defray the cost of organizing it.

Early bird attendance fee (until September 1, 2025)

Mongolia Society Members - $75

Non-Mongolian Society Members - $125

Students, Mongolians (outside of the US) - $60

Regular attendance fee (after September 1, 2025)

Mongolia Society Members - $90

Non-Mongolian Society Members - $140

Thanks to a generous donation, Zoom access to the Annual Meeting will be available free of charge.

But registration is required. Registration information will be posted later.

The Society has scheduled an guided tour of the National Museum of Asian Art, located in the Smithsonian Institution, at Friday, October 3rd, at 11:30am. The museum has five galleries devoted to Chinese art, some of which was created during the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), a Mongol-led imperial dynasty of China and a successor state to the Mongol Empire after its division.
